Essentials P.Log. Certification Program was designed for operations staff who require baseline training in supply chain operations with an emphasis on building basic knowledge and skills set in logistics and supply chain. Create a foundation for a career in logistics and supply chain management through this newly developed P.Log. Pathway. Certification requirements include the successful completion of core online modules in:

Essentials Series

The Essentials Series provides the baseline training that is required to perform in your current role and serves as a foundation for a career in logistics and supply chain management. By progressing through the five Essentials modules, an integrated picture of logistics and supply chain is developed. Each of the 5 web-based modules only takes an average of 6-8 hours to complete. The five Essentials Series modules are:

Logistics 1101:

This module reviews the process that a single item goes through from its raw material stage to its final distribution to the consumer.

Warehousing & Distribution 1201:

Participants learn about the movement of materials through the supply chain. In addition, various types of documentation are introduced, with a focus on the bill of lading.

Traffic & Transportation 1301:

Participants learn about the different modes of transportation and discuss cheapest, fastest, most dependable, and most available modes. Product requirements for transport are discussed as well as the basics of shipping documentation, map-reading, routing, and technology.

Purchasing and Procurement 1401:

In this module, participants are taught how to differentiate between internal and external customers, the purchasing cycle, the purchase order, technology, comparing public & private purchasing, and contrasting centralized & decentralized purchasing.

Inventory Management 1501:

Participants learn how to describe and distinguish among methods of inventory control to classify and categorize materials. The module describes categories, costs and functions associated with inventory, and the inventory cycle. The participant learns how to use basic technology and how to use spreadsheets and databases to input, read and interpret inventory management and control.

Frontline Logistics

The Frontline Program provides the baseline training that is required to perform in your current role and serves as a foundation for a career in logistics and supply chain management. It consists of 14 web-based modules that will help you improve your company's productivity by developing operating plans and procedures, controlling costs and utilizing your human and material resources. Each module only takes an average of four hours to complete. The programs fourteen modules are:

Logistics Process Diagnostics

Gain insight into how to better manage the supply chain. By the end of this web-based module you will better appreciate the differences between "supply chain" and "logistics". You will also learn the practical skills of benchmarking, costing, and network design, and fully realize the importance of collaboration in a supply chain. An orientation component will help you gain confidence in your web skills, while building teams. You will then become involved in the core of the module, an interactive Supply Chain Simulation. The de-briefing phase will allow you to consolidate and analyze your learning experiences with team members.

Team Dynamics

Develop the practical skills needed when dealing with team dynamics and communications. The PC-based module is comprised of two phases. Phase 1, uses a Virtual Learning Environment that engages participants in a two-dimensional world of video, graphics, and experiential exercises using CD-ROM. In phase 2, participants work online as a virtual team, allowing you to put your new skills into practice and giving you the opportunity to discuss your views with other team members. Upon completion, you will have developed the skills necessary to define a team, enhance trust and interpersonal relationships, and make evaluations and team-based decisions.

Leading & Managing Change

Explore one of the most pressing situations facing organizations today; the leadership gap, which can have a sizeable impact on the success of many companies. Without an understanding of how to manage change and drive change effectively organizations can lose their competitive edge. The first phase of the module is centered around leadership concepts. It is highly introspective and goal driven to help participants understand their strengths and behaviors in relation to personal leadership, and how they can develop skills to lead across all levels of an organization. The second phase of the module explores the forces driving change and the nature and challenges of organizational change. Participants will look at the steps required by organizations to make change efforts successful, from creating urgency in their organizations, to anchoring those changes into their culture.

Professional Ethics

Do you have a personal strategy for ethical decision making? This face-to-face module will teach you how formulate a corporate code of ethics and develop a corporate ethics program. An overall conceptual framework will guide this exploration into the many facets of ethics: the influences of values on corporate behaviour; why people behave unethically; and how to balance ethics and the bottom line. By the end of the module you will have challenged yourself and your value system and will have gained the skills necessary to develop a plan of action to promote ethical conduct.

National Qualifier

The Q Module is a comprehensive module focused on integrated logistics processes and supply chain strategies. This online module addresses the major aspects of modern supply chain management. You will learn a variety of business strategies that will improve customer service and reduce costs and inventory levels. The Q Module is completed after all other modules in this program have been successfully completed.
